Locked Park & Halloween party

Well folks, we have a situation, but we're working on it! First things first…

We locked the park today in a rushed manner because we were having a problem with a woman who has been terrorizing park goers lately. The Homelessness and Supportive Housing team spoke with her, and she refused services, so SFPD was only able to get her belongings moved out to the front of the park. We didn’t want her moving right back in, so we locked it.

We have ordered several combination locks that are arriving on Friday. We will program them with the same code, so every time one is broken, we will immediately replace it. We will update the homepage of our website to let you know how to get the code. Every time you enter and exit the park, you’ll have to lock it behind you. Be very careful who you share the code with, or we’ll have to start from scratch!

Some good news…

This evening, we had over 10 people from various city departments on a zoom call to discuss the park situation. We’re trying to connect the dots and get everyone on the same page to make it a safe and enjoyable space again. We are fully aware of the issues and are addressing them one by one. This will take time, but our volunteer team is committed, as is Supervisor Dorsey’s office, DPW and SFPD.

Even better news…

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm we will have our very first Yappy Hour since 2019! It’s going to be a costume party to kick off the Halloween festivities. Drinks and snacks will be provided by the parks donation fund, and Woodland’s Pet Shop is going to treat us to some yummy items for the pups! Stay tuned for more on the event by following us on Insta and FB.

Thank you in advance for your patience as we sort through these issues. Hopefully, we’ll come up with an easy way to report concerns and have them addressed immediately. In the meantime, 311 is best for reporting and sending photos of minor things and please use 911 to report humans doing scary things.

Woofs 'n wags,

The Volunteer Team
