We've had reports of hawks flying around the park. Some residents have been worried that hawks could pick up or attack small dogs. After doing a bit of research, it seems that a hawk cannot carry anything heavier than its own body weight, but unless you're carrying a scale around at the park, your guess is as good as mine.
To be on the safe side, carefully watch over any small dogs you see in the park--especially if they're off-leash. Please send us updates, so that we may keep others informed: firstname.lastname@example.org
UPDATE from a neighbor:
"There has been a red-tailed hawk living in the big tree up against the anchorage of the bridge for years; months after the park opened. The hawk never so much as landed on the fences while little dogs were in the yard."
Broken Glass Alert
In the small dog park, you may find some broken glass. We've reported it to 311 which communicates directly with DPW. When you see something, please say something. Taking care of our park is a neighborhood effort, so download the 311 app and snap a pic of the issue. The more of us who report issues, the better. Please loop us in so that we can make PSA's when needed.
As always, if you'd like to contribute to the dog park's success, please reach out. Extra hands and donations are appreciated!
