Soft Opening Hours of Operation

The Rincon Hill Dog Park is located at the northwest corner of Beale and Bryant Streets (486 Beale Street, San Francisco, CA) in the Rincon Hill neighborhood in the South of Market (SoMa) District.

The park’s soft opening began December 16, 2011 with initial hours of 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Lighting was turned on Tuesday, December 20th, and with CalTrans’s permission, volunteers began keeping the park open until 10 p.m. as of December 21st.

Rincon Hill Dog Park is still under construction with the additional seating, permanent trash cans, landscaping, and public plaza scheduled for completion in early 2012. In the meanwhile, the park’s two off-leash dog areas are available for use at the following times thanks to neighborhood volunteer gatekeepers:

  • 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Note that there are some gaps in the current fencing that may allow smaller dogs a means to get loose – those spots are primarily below the fencing between the double gates leading into the smaller dog area and just past the benches towards the hill in the larger dog run area. Please keep an eye on your dog(s) while at the park.

Please come to the Rincon Hill Dog Park’s Grand Opening Celebration at the park on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.!

Special thanks to Pawtrero Bathhouse & Feed Co. for supplying the dog waste bags at Rincon Hill Dog Park, to the non-profit SFDOG (San Francisco Dog Owners Group) for acting as the park’s fiscal sponsor, and to Patrol Special Police Officers Scott and Todd Hart for keeping an eye on the park in the evenings and helping to lock it up a couple of nights each week!

The community raised $5,000 to provide the City and County of San Francisco’s Department of Public Works the funding to lease the park from property owner Caltrans through the end of the year 2021.

The community is now raising funds to pay for maintenance and operations of the dog park.

Thank you to the park’s 2011 Founding Donors
